India ranks 101 out of 116 countries in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021 published on 14th October. India’s neighbouring country, Pakistan ranks 92nd, Bangladesh ranks 76th and Nepal is 76th. Moreover, with a score of 27.5, India has been classified as ‘at a level of hunger that is serious’. Countries such as Belarus, Brazil, Chile, China, Cuba, Turkey are ranked among 1 to 18. Whereas Somalia has ranked highest in the recent GHI rankings, it scored 50.8 which is considered very alarming.
