Phish’s music blends elements from different genres such as funk, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, folk, country, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and pop. The band, inspired by the Grateful Dead, was part of an improvised rock group movement colloquially known as “jam bands”, and gained considerable popularity as a tour concert band in the 1990s. Phish has built a large and enthusiastic supporter in the United States through word-of-mouth, live recording sharing, and sales of over 8 million albums and DVDs.
Halloween or Hallowe’en less commonly known as All Halloween, All Hallows’ Eve, or All Saints’ Eve, is a celebration observed in many countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows’ Day. From pumpkins to pranks to communicating with the dead, Halloween is a patchwork holiday associated with centuries of religious and mysterious traditions. Halloween activities include trick treats, attending Halloween costume parties pumpkin sculptures on jack-o’-lanterns, campfire lighting, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, scary storytelling, as well as watching horror films. Christian religious festivals on All Saints’ Day are popular for some, such as attending church services and lighting candles on the tombs of the dead, but for others they are secular Festival. Some Christians have historically avoided flesh on All Saints’ Day. This is a tradition reflected in the consumption of certain vegetarian foods such as apples, potato pancakes and soul cakes on this day.
Phish wrapped up their four-night stand at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night with a spectacular Halloween party with a full set as the fictional comic band Sci-Fi Soldier. This tour is unbelievable, with jams of almost every level, long and excellent improvisation, humorous gags, bust outs, and a live debut of one of Fish’s oldest songs -“And So To Bed”. It was a good run. One of the missing elements was the new material. Phish unveiled and exclamated 12 new original suites on the Fall 2021 tour. These were highly collaborative works that remained true to their unique style, although new sounds may have been injected in the future. Thirty-eight years after their career, Phish continues to innovate and evolve. So it’s no wonder that the albums of other artists seem to be behind them. The show was part of Phish’s long tradition of wearing “musical costumes” on Halloween. It started with a show in Glens Falls, New York in 1994, and surprised the audience by playing the Beatles white albums one after the other. Over the past few years, they broke out Quadrophenia by the Who, Remain in Light by Talking Heads, Loaded by the Velvet Underground, Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones, and Waiting on Columbus by Little Feat. This year’s plan was a tightly guarded secret, which they revealed when they handed out counterfeit 60s-style sci-fi soldier comics at the show. Sci-Fi Soldier’s Get More Down seems to be 12 new original suites similar to their 2018 Kasvot Växt album set. The comic consists of 14 pages, including a front and back cover that tells how the Sci-Fi Soldier was born. The opening set included Phish standards such as “Buried Alive,” “Wolfman’s Brother,” and “David Bowie,” while the second set included the elaborate Sci-Fi soldiers and played “Get More Down”. If the goal was to overcome Kasvot Växt’s madness, they succeeded.According to Phish.net website, in the second set, the band played in elaborate costumes (helmets, etc.) with different instruments, each flashing / glowing after (two circles and two squares). Played in shape (two circles and two squares- Hologram) from the ceiling of a colored column of light. Dombrowski, an award-winning illustrator created the art for comic strips using Phish-derived stories, written by Steve Waltian with Jay Katzil and Rebecca Hanson. The band wears costumes designed by Costume designer Aidan Vitti. Sci-Fi Soldier comics included Easter Egg’s reference to Phish’s Baker’s Darth Run, the Madison Square Garden platform accident at Tray Anastasia, and more. Anastasio as “Clueless Wallob”, keyboard player Page McConnell as “Pat Malone”, bassist Mike Gordon as “Half Nelson”, and drummer Jon Fishman as “Paulie Roots!”.The comic covered Talking Heads’ legendary album “Remain in Light” in 1996 with the Atlanta Omni, and the quartet released “Phishville” when a Playbill version was distributed for each subsequent Halloween concert. It will appear after it starts to be released. While the quartet loves to screw with their followers, but Phish has so far remained loyal to the “musical costumes” featured in all Phishvilles.Phish started the musical costume trend on October 31, 1994. When they featured the Beatles White Album at the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, New York. Similar to Halloween 1995, fans voted for The Who’s Quadrophenia performance selection at the Rosemont Horizon in Rosemont, Illinois. As mentioned earlier, the first Phishville announced the Remain in Light set up at The Omni on October 31, 1996. After that, phish wore a musical costume from The Velvet Underground’s Loaded at the Thomas & Mac Center in Las Vegas. It would be 11 years until the next Phish Halloween concert at Festival 8 of the band in Indio, California. The four-piece competed with The Rolling Stones’ Exile On Main Street on Main Street for brass and background singers on Halloween 2009. On October 31, 2010, Phish then covered a live album for the first time with a performance by Little Feat waiting for Columbus at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. That tradition has undergone a major transformation for the next musical outfit for Halloween 2013 at the Boardwalk Hall. This time, Phish premiered 12 originals and previewed the next studio album. Most of them will be recorded in Fuego LP the following year.Phish then created a song based on Disney’s Thrilling Sounds Of The Haunted House, Disney’s Chilling sound effects album, which debuted at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Halloween 2014. The latest album cover was also hosted when Phish played David Bowie’s Jiggy Stardust and Spider from Mars at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Halloween 2016 at the same venue where the band was playing on 31st of October. The group invented Kasvot Växt, a band probably from Scandinavia, as part of an original track. Phish played írokk on October 31, 2018-10’s new original collections.
