Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood’s superstar Shahrukh Khan, is in jail lately involved in a drug case.
His bail plea was supposed to be heard in the Bombay High Court on 26th of October. NCB officials had held eight others including Aryan Khan after conducting a raid on Cordelia Cruises going from Mumbai to Goa. On 2nd of October Aryan Khan left his home in Bandra to attend a party on Cordelia Cruises’ Empress ship. A two-day ‘musical voyage’ had been arranged by a Delhi-based events company. On being tipped-off, a group of the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Mumbai unit boarded the ship disguised as passengers. The team was led by Sameer Wankhede who is the zonal director.

On the ship, NCB officers began an enquiry and it was reported that the NCB had seized several illegal drugs such as 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas and ecstasy, five grams of Mephodrone and Rupees 1.33 lakh from the ship and detained 7-8 people, including a Bollywood star’s son. With regard to Aryan’s bail, senior attorney of the Supreme court Prashant Bhushan has stated that there is no cause for denying the bail plea within court. He said that the judges of NDPS courts should be trained. He said in his tweet that judges should show a little sense of sensitivity when it comes to a matter of bail. Talking to a news channel concerning this, Prashant Bhushan said that there is no such issue in Aryan Khan’s case that bail cannot be granted. Making a forceful plea for bail to Aryan Khan, his lawyer Prashant Bhushan and former Attorney General of India, Mukul Rohatgi informed the court that Aryan was a special guest to the ship through event manager Prateek Gaba.

Prashant Bhushan is an Indian public interest lawyer in the Supreme Court of India. born on the 15th of October, 1956. He became a member of the group of India Against Corruption (IAC) movement referred to as the Team Anna which supported Anna Hazare’s campaign for the implementation of the Jan Lokpal Bill. After a split in IAC, he helped Team Anna in the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party. In the year 2015, he passed numerous allegations against the party’s leadership, it’s functioning, and its deviation from the core ideology, values, and commitments. His major fields of interest have been human rights, environmental safety, and accountability of the public servants. He is affiliated with diverse establishments such as the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), and Transparency International (India). Additionally, He is the convenor of the Working Committee of the Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Judicial Reforms.
Aryan khan’s bail plea got denied
Aryan Khan has been denied bail twice previously. The special anti-drugs court rejected his bail last week stating that he knew about charas hidden in his friend Arbaaz Merchant’s shoe. Arbaaz Merchant was also held along with Aryan and 18 others. Aryan Khan has asserted that the NCB is misinterpreting his WhatsApp chats. The NCB replied opposing the bail, saying that Aryan is not simply a drug consumer, but also deals with drug trafficking, tampering witnesses.“On the 4th of October, during the first hearings in the Aryan Khan case, the NCB looked for an extension of Aryan’s police custody until October 11. However, the court granted NCB custody of him and the others only till the 7th of October. On 7th, the NCB again looked for custody of Aryan till October 11. The court refused the demand and instead sent him to 14-day judicial custody and was shifted to Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail along with another accused Arbaaz Merchant the next day.

Whereas, Munmun Dhamecha is at Byculla women’s prison. He was being detained at the NCB office until then. On October 8th, Aryan Khan made an appeal to the court for both interim and regular bail. The court that was hearing the matter, rejected the bail application on grounds of it being ‘non-maintainable’ in that particular court. 11th of October, a special NDPS court heard the bail plea and instructed the NCB to file its reply by October 13. The court withdrew the hearing on the 13th for the next day after hearing arguments from both sides. On the 14th, the special NDPS court judge reserved his order on Aryan Khan’s bail application. As courts were shut for the weekend and other holidays, the next hearing was scheduled for October 20, which meant that Aryan would stay in jail until then. In the afternoon of 20th, the special NDPS court rejected Aryan Khan’s bail application. Aryan’s lawyers mentioned that they would move to the Bombay High Court in an appeal against the rejection of bail by the lower court. Aryan Khan continues to stay in prison.

On 21st, Aryan Khan’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde, along with his team, visited the Bombay High Court. The court stated it will hear Aryan Khan’s appeal on Tuesday, October 26. On 26th, The Bombay High Court began hearing Aryan Khan’s bail plea. The NCB opposed the plea while former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, along with others, argued in favour of bail for Aryan Khan. The hearing will resume at 2.30 pm on Wednesday, i.e. 27th of October. Meanwhile, a special NDPS court granted bail to two accused within the case.According to the information, if Aryan does not get bail from the court till October 29, then he will have to remain in jail till November 15. In such a situation, it is clear that Aryan Khan’s Diwali will be spent in jail only.The court is open until Friday (29 October). After this, on 30th and 31st of October, the court will stay closed on account of Saturday and Sunday.

The NCB has ordered a vigilance inquiry into the claims created by a witness within the cruise drugs case of an extortion bid of Rs 25 crore by some agency officials, including its Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede, and others for letting off accused Aryan.
