Marvel’s Next Phase
Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 is a collection of American superhero films and television series created by Marvel Studios. Phase 4 includes all Marvel Studios films scheduled for release between 2021 and 2023, Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, and others. Marvel is now partnered with Disney plus Hotstar to stream both old and new movies and shows. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will currently air this April 23rd, and fans are eagerly anticipating it. Meanwhile, Marvel has other plans, focusing on new characters who will significantly impact the Marvel Universe. Marvel is still recognized for its incredible work and creation of the world for their next generation.
The Master of Kung Fu: Shang-Chi
The characters featured in Phase 4 include Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings. Everyone is enamored by well-known superheroes, Shang-Chi is an underdog superhero. Shang-Chi, unlike Captain America, lacks superhuman strength, but he forges himself into a warrior who fights injustice and crime. He has also mastered a multitude of skills and abilities that distinguish him from other heroes. Kung Fu is one of his greatest strengths.
He was raised to be a deadly assassin by his father, who is the immortal crime lord and sorcerer. However, Shang-Chi was aware of his father’s nefarious nature and defected during his first assignment. Shang-Chi opposed his father’s wicked schemes. The most impressive skills of Shang-Chi include mastering all the five senses and regulating his blood flow to control the poison flowing in his veins.
He had teamed forces with Captain America to counter villains for a long time in the early comic issues of Shang-Chi. Since then, Shang-Chi has been a valuable member that Captain America can rely on.
A spider virus plagued many citizens in Manhattan, and they developed spider powers in Spider-Island. Shang-Chi is sent to train Spider-Man in martial arts, Shang-Chi becomes one of the infected individuals, and now has the same ability and strength as Spider-Man. Shang-Chi once fought a gigantic dragon that had the whole Madripoor on its head and defeated the beast with pure strength using Pym Particle.
This shows that the movie can bring out a lot more than what we are excited about and hypes the whole Marvel fandom.
The Cast of Shang-Chi
Simu Liu, a Canadian stuntman, writer, and actor, well known for his work in ‘Kim’s Convenience’, even wrote and directed ‘Meeting Mommy’ in 2017. While auditioning for Shang-Chi, Simu Liu didn’t see himself as a superhero, but Marvel had other plans for him.
Shang-Chi worked with Daredevil on several projects, and there’s a possibility that we will see Charlie Cox. So, we will definitely see Daredevil with Shang-Chi. The untold backstory of Shang-Chi and his status as an Asian superhero piqued Simu Liu’s interest in taking this role.
Destin Daniel Cretton, the film’s director, Hawaiian by birth and Japanese by descent, has always wondered how his younger self would respond to seeing an Asian cast in a superhero film. ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ movie star Awkwafina, who we love to see on the screen since her role in ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, is also in this movie, making it even more enticing.
According to the director, Shang-Chi is going to be one of the top action movies in the Marvel Universe. In the event of the pandemic, Marvel Studios moves onto the next stage in the Phase 4 process by taking precautions to prevent problems.
In the trailer of Shang-Chi where the fans made memes and posted Easter eggs on them. It showed Simu Liu shirtless, and something similar to Captain America’s shield was behind him.
Interesting facts about Marvel’s Shang-Chi
We are well aware of the problems that the United States is facing. Marvel Studios has always been supportive of various social causes through their films and television shows.
Marvel Studios are taking their stand with the black lives matter movement with The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The first-ever black super soldier was sentenced to prison for 30 years for experimentation on blood samples.
Now that shield is in the hands of Sam Wilson, the challenges he is facing as a black man are something Marvel has acknowledged and supported the black community.
Addressing the issue of hate against Asians, Marvel introduced Shang-Chi, making him the first Asian superhero to support the Stop Asian Hate protest.
What to Expect Next?
Marvel has shown us the special cameo of the Seinfeld actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Madame Hydra turning our new Captain America to be the U.S. Agent. According to one of the big comics leaks, Shang-Chi may be a clue for taking the Secret Avengers.
Meanwhile, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale takes place. On 9th July 2021, Black Widow will be in theatres. Spider-Man 3 titled ‘No Way Home’ will be on the big screens this December. Even more shows and movies will be launching soon carefully into action in this pandemic sequentially.
