Keeping in mind the long long rivalry between INDIA AND PAKISTAN, a match between them makes the hype very obvious also special to not only to the citizens of Pakistan and India but also to cricket lovers all around the corners of the world.Lets see ahead why is India vs Pakistan match so hyped …
India-Pakistan matches draw more attention than any other match-up. Yes, The Ashes battle between England and Australia is another major rivalry but when it comes to an ICC event, none matches the hype of an Indo-Pak showdown.
If you are an Indian or Pakistani then this would be the most stupid question of all.
But if you are an outsider then this match between India and pakistan is not just sports, it’s more than that. It’s the dream of billions of people of both countries. Anger of the people. Emotions of the people that occurred during the rule of the British and the resulting partition.
Even the partition had hunderds of thousands of people being killed on the border. The kargil war between us and many more that cant describe this. Its a battle to show who is superior. A battle that calms certain on winning and angers the other that even TV, poster and even building of cricketers are attacked. Its not just a match, its just a border rivalry that has been taken to next level and we are lucky to see them face off in cricket rather than with guns and stuff. Why is an India vs Pakistan cricket match always hyped and sensitized? Is it because of the unending political conflict between the two countries?
Amidst the ever-going rivalry between the two countries, cricket matches are sort of a mechanism to vent out prevailing frustrations/tensions. It is a positive way of re-constructing or establishing cultural ties between the peoples of two nations. Over the years, it has been established that nothing other than people-to-people contact, cultural contact and business relations are going to establish a friendly and cozy environment between them. There might be certain groups on either side that would demand all-out war (or similar violent methods) to put an end to the rivalry once for all. Unfortunately, things don’t work this way. War solves a few problems, in a botched manner, but also gives birth to several more problems (which have implications in the long run). Cricket, or for that matter any sports or cultural exchange program(e.g. comedy show, films) establish a positive atmosphere. bring media people, journalists, artists, and laymen on a common platform. The memories have long lasting impacts. Imagine you went to see a live match and made friends from Lahore. Later, if there is any bomb blast in Lahore or god forbid, India launches a missile at Lahore, you would surely ask the whereabouts of your friend. Remember, during the last World Cup played, we saw Parvez Mush and Manmohan Singh sitting together in Mohali Stadium? There is nothing wrong in hyping these events, as long as they are taken in a positive aspect. However, some miscreants misuse these situations and try evoking bitterness under the garb of patriotism. A true patriot would never do so. Such international rivalry has been common all over the world: Argentina–England football rivalry is one of the best forms. Falkland war had created animosity between England and Argentina. Not just cricket, there are several other corporations, civil societies, and groups working to bring India-Pak together.
Why is India vs Pakistan match is Special?
There are ‘N’ number of reasons why it is so special which ranges from Cricket to politics, the match is not only about 30 players, a dozen of Support staff, few officials and thousand watching it in the stadium, it is mainly about the ones who watch it back at there homes supporting, cheering, praying for their team. A few main reasons would be
1. Because the two countries have the same ancestory 70 years back, so they are parted and this created fearsome rivalry.
2. Border Issues. The neighbors are never comfortable with the other one.
3. History. Pakistan’s lethal bowling to India’s Classic Batting.
4. The real battleground. As depicted in Sachin’s Biopic, the two countries could not have a war daily, so we have cricket match, where we create a war like situation.
5. Close to 2 billion emotions. Even the one not remotely linked to cricket would find Interest just for his country.
6. Media and mind games. Media plays a very crucial role in creating hype and making it even more special. Mind games both sides of the border starts about a month before the encounter.
7. Patriotism. Chauvinism. Whatever you say. But fans can’t see their team loose against arch rivals( deliberately not writing enemies) in their most favourite sport.
Well, both are the rivals and in the past, both the teams were having good players. So the people used to enjoy a lot as both sides politicians had shown their interest in these matches. Indian PM had called the Pakistan President and the PM to see these matches. Both the countries remain under so much stress because of which the teams play matches very rare occasions and that also they need to go from so much of political debates. So this also becomes an opportunity of nationalism. So people enjoys such feelings this makes the cricket matches between India and Pakistan bigger than anything else.
Due to a quite violent history, religion divide and current political turmoil between the two countries. Fans from these both countries hate it the most when they lose to the other country(PAK/IND). I am reasonably sure they fans from both sides are willing to trade a loss against a different country than a loss against IND/PAK.
Therefore, the hype for IND vs PAK match is never ending and always will be the most awaited as well as special to the cricket lovers all over the world.
