Pratik Mohite, a twenty-five-year-old Indian man has grabbed the Guinness World Record title of being the Shortest Competitive Bodybuilder (male) in the world as verified in February 2021. It’s interesting to note that, it was Mohite’s friend who suggested him to apply for the Guinness World Records. He has proudly gained entry into the Guinness Book of World Records 2022 after the delay caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pratik Mohite measures 102 centimetres (3 ft 4 in) and started his bodybuilding career in 2012, at his village Dolavali in Raigarh. He overcame several challenges to make a mark for himself today. When he started bodybuilding, he struggled a lot initially. He found it difficult to get a good grip on the equipment during his workouts. Furthermore, he had to deal with people’s discouraging opinions of him as they considered him weak. But Pratik Mohite, with his sheer hard work and a strong determination proved everyone wrong. He is thankful to his family and friends, who have always been very supportive and helpful to him.
Mohite has participated in various district, state and national bodybuilding events. He was even recognized with the Raigad Bushan Award in 2019 for his bodybuilding achievements. Recalling his bodybuilding journey, Mohite said that, he was first introduced to bodybuilding in 2012 through an event at his village. Initially, he was a bit reluctant to go on stage to pose as he thought people would mock him.
It took him almost four years to get over these negative thoughts about him and he participated in his first bodybuilding event as he was determined to give his best performance on the stage. His hard work at gym paid off! After his performance, not only was he applauded but also started becoming a rising star in the field of bodybuilding. In 2018, he bagged a silver medal at the Maharashtra Shree Competition.
Mohite maintains a strict training regime to keep himself fit. He starts his morning with a 30-minute run followed by a healthy breakfast. Followed by gym for two hours in the afternoon and ends his day with another 30-minute run. He keeps his Instagram followers updated on his progress while training. Mohite dreams to open his own gym to inspire like-minded athletes. He is now keen on making a record for most push-ups in a minute!
Mohite’s story is not of easy success but of sheer hard work, determination and a strong, positive outlook on life and his motivational words which are as follows give inspiration to so many people out there :
